By borrowing equipment from the VIU Library, you acknowledge that you are responsible for the safe and proper use of the equipment. You accept the following terms of the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Library equipment loans program:

• Equipment loans are limited to current VIU students, employees, and retirees. Laptop loans are limited to current VIU students.
• A VIU ID card is required to check out equipment.
• Equipment not picked up within 24 hours of its reservation time may be cancelled at the discretion of Library employees.
• Equipment must be returned in the same condition it was received in, along with all included cables, accessories, and cases. You agree to pay full repair or replacement charges for damages/loss incurred to the equipment while it is in your care.
• Equipment must be returned by the due date. Incomplete and late equipment returns may result in restriction of access to VIU Library resources.
• Equipment must be returned in-person by the borrower, during open hours, to a Library employee at the VIU Library Service Desk. Laptops on semester loan must be returned by appointment.
• Laptops on semester loan must be returned unlocked and unencrypted.
