Faculty may place print materials on Reserve by completing an online Reserve Request form. Materials may belong either to faculty or to the Library.
Photocopies must comply with the terms of VIU’s Access Copyright Premium License or be copied under the Fair Dealing Exception in the Copyright Act.
Use Access Copyright’s Title Search & Permission’s Tool to see if the material is an Access Copyright Repertoire Work and therefore included in VIU’s Access Premium license. If the Tool confirms the material is covered by VIU’s Access Premium License, then you may copy no more than the amounts listed on the Access Premium Information Poster. Please contact email@example.com if you have questions about the allowable amounts or the Premium License.
If the material is not included in the Access Copyright Repertoire, then you may be able to copy a “short excerpt” under the Fair Dealing Exception in the Copyright Act. Please see information about distributing a short excerpt in the Course Materials and Copyright Guide or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Faculty can provide online access to required or recommended course readings from websites by creating stable links to online articles and other licensed Library resources.
Email email@example.com for more information.
