Your VIU student ID card is used to enter various buildings on the Nanaimo campus, to access meal plans and dining dollars, and to borrow materials from the library. For a complete list of services, please visit: viu.ca/fim.
Because VIU is upgrading its technological infrastructure to give you better access to campus facilities and services through your student ID card. you need to obtain a new card at no charge, whether you are a new or returning student, if your card was issued prior to July 1, 2019.

If your photo does not meet the requirements, you will be notified by email and you will need to re-submit your photo.
If card is being picked up, processing time is 2-3 business days. Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery if card is being mailed.
Please bring one piece of picture ID or 2 pieces of non-picture ID when you pick up your card. If you are feeling unwell or have been instructed self-isolate, please wait to pick up your card, or have it mailed.
Cards are available for pickup from the Campus Store in building 305 (lower level of library) Monday through Friday between 8am and 4:30pm.
Cards can be picked up from the library service desk Monday through Friday between 9am and 2pm.
Cards can be picked up from the campus reception desk during open hours. You will be notified when your card is ready for pickup.
If you are unable to pick up your VIU ID card in person, we can mail your card to you.
Please email us at library@viu.ca after uploading your selfie to indicate your preference and include a photo of your picture ID or 2 pieces of non-picture ID in your email.
