Statistics and Data are not the Same!
Statistics (stats) are already analyzed data (totals, sums, averages, etc) used in reports or studies to back up a claim. Data are the raw material that enable researchers to produce statistics, and are usually manipulated in statistical software like SPSS or SAS.
Statista is a great database for stats across topics on both national and international scales.
To search for statistical information in the VIU library collection, start with LibrarySearch. For example, if you're looking for Canadian statistics on the topic of smoking, you would enter the following:
