In creating your citations, you may decide to use a citation generator. Citation generators are tools that can help you quickly and easily create citations. Since these citations are computer-generated, they may include errors so always be sure to review them for accuracy using a reliable style guide. Citation generators may include different editions of citation styles (example: APA 6th edition or 7th edition) so be sure to double check that you are using the correct edition.
Below you'll find a number of citation generators, from built-in database generators to third-party generators, that you can use for creating citations.
Many search engines and databases such as LibrarySearch, Academic Search Premier, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis and more, have built in citation generators. If you're looking for the citation generator tool in a database, common symbols include quotation marks (" ") or the word "cite" or "citations."
Below are some examples of where to locate the citation generator tool in some of these databases:
In LibrarySearch, click the quotation mark symbol on the right side of an item record to generate a citation.
In Academic Search Premier, click the word 'cite' on the right side of the item record to generate a citation.
In ScienceDirect, click the word 'cite' and the quotation mark at the bottom of the item record to generate a citation.
There are many third-party citation generators hosted by other institutions or companies. Always make sure to double check your generated citations using a reliable citation guide.
