Alerts are offered by journal publishers and other databases to help you keep up with recent publications related your research interests.

Google Scholar offers a search alert service

Note the "Create email alert" icon that appears at the top and bottom of your search results screen.

Clicking on the icon will allow you to create an alert based on your current search query.
